Note: Some listed items are already in evidence, this list just reinforces the need for the specific item.
- Site should be coded with a lower standard of HTML (html 3.2 or 4.0) so that the widest possible range of browsers,
such as: Netscape 4.x, IE 4+, Opera 5+ and Mozilla 0.6+ can all read it.
- Site should be coded by hand so as to avoid some browsers being unable to view the images or other content of
the site.
- Site should be formatted so that any visitor with screen resolution of 800x600 or better can see entire page without
any need to scroll sideways.
- Site should also make use of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS 1) to reduce downloaded file size while ensuring older
browser compatibility.
- Site should be coded so that all pages display the same font family, colors and sizes as well as background color,
and header/footer (use template) design to instill a sense of commonality and conformity.
- Should ensure that site visitors are aware of the fact that military service is not a prerequisite for membership (not
only displayed on membership page).
- List membership benefits for members and spouses.
- List requirements or restrictions (if any) of membership.
- Printable "Banquet Menus" should be made available to site visitors in a number of different formats to allow for the
widest possible viewing, not just those visitors with MS Word. Possible formats could include .txt, .doc, .wps in
both compressed and compression free files (available formats should depend on how often the menu changes).
- A downloadable, printable listing of upcoming events should be made available in the previously mentioned formats.
- The R.C.M.I. newsmagazine, "SitRep" could be made available online in a password-protected area for members to
download as they wish.
- The sense of tradition that is a major focus of the R.C.M.I. should be stressed and delved into.
- A linked map (courtesy of mapquest or similar) could help visitors locate the club, and a detailed, hi-resolution map
could pinpoint the club as well as the parking facilities.
